These are called skeletal or striated muscles and while they help us perform many feats of strength and speed, they can becomes fatigued, strained, pulled or spasm.
The strong sheet of connective wrapping around and inside muscles is called the fascia. It looks like cellophane and it carries the many nerves, blood vessels an lymphatics that supply the muscles. If the fascia are damaged, the blood, nerve and lymph supply to the muscles can be interrupted and chronic muscle problems can result. Our nerves make muscles move. When a nerve is stimulated, the muscle to which it is connect contracts. Nerves also supply muscles with growth nutrients. If a nerve is cut, the muscle either withers away or becomes paralyzed.
